I had just finished Dragonbane by Sherrilyn. Which i totally loved.I use to have all her books… Dark Hunters..… in hardback that i had bought at bookstores...because i had not joined Amazon yet. And i wanted to have the collection all in Hardback not some on a shelf and others in a computer/e-reader form. So when my Grandaughter got into the series and and I had by then my Amazon Acct and my reader's....I gave her all my books. Then i downloaded the series…basically bought them twice. You are weclome Sherrilyn lol. But after reading Dragonbane i was just a little confused...tho Avatar…spelling prob wrong… explains a whole lot about how there are so many Were-Animal's & Werehuman...which will really suprise you. Since i downloaded the E-Books they show as being new books in the Colection and i have not opened them. But going into the Amazon store and seeing the e-book Dragonswan and that i did not have that one and it was a shortstory i got it and just finished it. As usual its as good as Kenyon's full novels. THIS BOOK ANSWERS so many of the questions i had about the Arcadian's & Kattagari species. It is worth the read even if you are on track with all the characters. It actually explained to me about Bastian and his roll.

Dragonswan is worth the $3.00 to just read Channon and Sebastian's story and update you on a few of the other characters. Drak Hunters rule!!

I like this story, and the characters involved. However, it's only a short story, so the characters don't seem fully fleshed out. As a result, their love story in general feels a bit rushed. Still, can never go wrong with Sherrilyn Kenyon. Worth checking out!
This is a great short story. This continues along the "Dragonebane" mythology.

I sincerely enjoyed the well thought out characters. It was easy to relate to them and root for their success in beating the bad guys. The story is fun and quirky with lots of action and adventure. I hope we will hear more from Cade in future novels.
I've been reading Sherrilyn Kenyon books, on and off, for years. Back then, it was paperback from the library, and never in any particular order. I was reading her paranormal romance, before Twilight made vampires popular. So since discovering my e-reader this year, I finally have the pleasure of starting her series again, from start to finish. This prequel novella, starts off the series. It was great. Not as intense as one of her emotionally drenching full length novels, but an endearing little sexual fantasy with Dragon-shifters. Very sexy.

Channon has dedicated her adult life to trying to unravel the secrets surrounding an ancient Dragon Tapestry. Now she is in Virginia and on the brink of deciphering the meaning of the piece of artwork, if only she can figure out the last few mysteries. Never did she expect that fate would intervene in the guise of the sexy Sebastian.

Sebastian has traveled through time and magic to track down the tapestry that changed his life irrevocably. He is from a distant past, trained as a slayer to protect his people and their ways. When he meets Channon he knows immediately she is his destiny... if only he can convince her of that fact. Now the real adventure begins.

Though fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon will love Dragonswan, I was less than impressed. The story covered in the short novella would have been much better suited to a full length novel. There were so many parts of the story that could have been expanded on. I personally would have loved more background on Sebastian and his people. The idea of a race of beings who are dragon shapeshifters is fascinating and it would have been wonderful to learn more about their ways.

One thing readers will love is that Channon, other than the spelling of her name, is so ordinary. She is you, me, the woman at the office who is so shy she doesn't talk to anyone. It's nice to see a heroine who's not the usual petite, thin, beautiful, perfectly proportioned stereotype. Sebastian is incredibly sexy, from his dragon tattoo to his brilliant eyes.

The time travel premise is a nice hook, but practical, logical Channon seemed to adjust far too easily to being thrown in to this new world. It's hard to believe she so willingly would give up all she knows and has worked so hard for. This is likely due to necessity of the author to fit the story into the shorter word count, but it didn't sit well with this reviewer.

In short, die hard fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon would definitely want this one on the keeper shelf, since it's a collectible edition. It is a nice way to pass the time, but not one likely to be reread over and over again.

Definitely recommend this as a first read in the dark hunter series to see if you will like it. Other books get more in-depth with the story behind the story, of the gods and legends and other species, but this one is a great start and a great read. It is a short story, three chapters and epilogue. Sherrilyn Kenyon makes every woman wish she was the main character and makes them highly relatable. One of the very best authors of our time!
OMG! I LOVE dragons! Out of this whole Dark Hunter series thus far, I have been most intrigued with Ash (of course) and the Dragon characters. This short story was a wild ride literally, and I couldn't put it down until the very end! And I'm sad that it's over already. I always get a sense of the passion that her characters feel for one another, but in this story Kenyon really captured their love as well. I cried and laughed. I'm so happy I read this! If you are or have been a fan of Kenyon's earlier work you will highly enjoy this book!
